Pam Bertoncin,
Bob's wife, also has a broad range of experiences through employment and volunteer work. She has worked in the insurance industry, pharmaceuticals, in education, TWA, and in an art gallery. She served on the Shawnee Mission Schools Advisory Board, was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and served on several PTA boards. She brings not only administrative and organization skills but also a great love of style and design. All of these were very helpful when she and Bob purchased the Fireside from Bob's mother in 1994. Although leisure time is limited, she enjoys reading, gardening, bird watching and fishing.
Jarrett Bertoncin
has grown up with the Fireside. He worked summers and weekends installing gas logs and glass doors and learning the business from the bottom up. His schedule worked around his theater activities from his junior year in high school on. Jarrett has a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Design with an emphasis on Stage Set Design and Lighting Design for Theater. He started designing professionally in 1993 and continues to be active in theater design around the country. Jarrett came to the Fireside in 1997 and was the moving force in developing the concept and design of the new Fireside location. His knowledge of the physics of fireplaces combined with his design skills and historical knowledge make him an invaluable member of the team! Jarrett is one of a handful of custom gas log designers and constantly pushes the edge for new technology and design. Along with his strong interest in theater, he enjoys Deep Sea fishing, flying, and drawing.
